K C Aryan was a prominent figure in modern Indian painting. Hailing from a lineage of artists, he embraced the world of art as effortlessly as one breathes. Despite the rich artistic environment fostered by his family—his father, brother, and others who influenced him—Aryan faced significant challenges in establishing his unique identity within the vibrant landscape of contemporary Indian art. Remarkably, he was a self-taught artist, having never set foot in an art college. With unwavering determination, he focused on his aspirations, undaunted by the various obstacles that came his way.

Today, we celebrate his relentless commitment to preserving and promoting the folk, tribal, and often overlooked art forms of India. Over seven decades, Aryan invested all his savings into building an impressive collection of artifacts, many of which are now rare or extinct. The museum dedicated to his legacy is run by a registered Trust, under the leadership of his art historian daughter, Dr. Subhashini Aryan, and curated by his son, Mr. B.N. Aryan, along with other dedicated trustees, including Mr. Gautam Dev Aryan and Mrs. Anuradha. Additionally, Aryan authored 23 scholarly books, several co-written with Dr. Subhashini Aryan, further contributing to the academic discourse on art.
