Sh. Ram Binod is a portraitist. He is well known for his classical style of portrait. The communication with the viewer is easy and the brush work is of a high order with the dark middle tone colours predominating. His portraits are highly appreciated and he has a good clientele in different walks of society. The creation of a work of art depends on (i) the formal elements- unity, rhythm, symmetry and harmony and (ii) codes, symbols, myths through which artist’s awareness of a situation is transferred to a medium, through which he is able to communicate the content of his work. The first is innate and natural. The second the artist has to discover.
