Harsh began her artistic journey as a painter while pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Government College of Art in Chandigarh. In 1989, she was awarded a scholarship for her Master of Fine Arts at the esteemed V.I. Surikov Moscow State Academy of Art in Russia, where she embarked on a seven-year degree specializing in oil painting. Representing India at the International Art Workshop Interplenair in 1995, held in Divnogorsk and Krasnoyarsk, she showcased her artworks in subsequent exhibitions in Siberia and Moscow alongside notable artists from Russia and South Asia. Since then, she has successfully participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both in India and internationally.

One of her Silk Batik pieces is housed in the Surikov Art Museum in Krasnoyarsk, while another work, “The Alternate World II,” earned her a Gold Medal at the National Art Competition. Featured in the pioneering all-woman e-magazine “Star’tists,” she shares the spotlight with many internationally recognized artists, and her works have also been included in various coffee table books.

Harsh is honored to have received the Senior Fellowship award from the Ministry of Culture for her exemplary contributions to the visual arts. Additionally, she authored a distinguished research book, “The Impact of Sociology of Culture on Artists and their Contribution to Society and History,” commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

In her role as the representative of the Roerich International Centre in India, Harsh is instrumental in fostering cultural ties between India and Russia. She has successfully organized exhibitions featuring artworks from children in both countries, emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural awareness and the exchange of artistic techniques.

Developing a unique style that blends realistic and abstract elements, Harsh’s paintings are rich with symbolism. Each piece reflects a vivid interplay of emotions, thoughts, and moods, brought to life through bold colors. The figures and forms in her artworks strike a balance between the real and the surreal. She seeks to create new, transparent forms that harmonize with their environments, drawing inspiration from the natural world, particularly the timeless symbols of circles and spirals—representatives of spiritual growth and our connection to the universe. The spiral’s motion reflects both a revolutionary and evolutionary journey, serving as a metaphor for reaching higher states of consciousness. Her recent works delve into the intuitive and metaphysical realms, revealing multi-layered perspectives and inviting viewers to contemplate profound themes such as “The Ultimate Truth” and the “Search for the Unknown.”
