Debasis Das, born in Kolkata in 1976, is a senior visual artist known for his inventive abstract expressions rooted in emotion, nature, and the subconscious world. He completed his B.V.A. and M.V.A. in Graphic Design (Applied Art) in 2001 and 2004 from Govt. College of art and Craft, Kolkata.
Debasis transitioned from watercolor explorations to abstract compositions that merge human, natural, and object-based forms. His paintings are characterized by strong linear structures, expressive textures, and subtle humour that often turn into an uncanny sense of introspection. His canvas bursts with color, capturing nature’s journey and the essence of all living forms. With fluid strokes, he reveals the depth of human characters- both women and men- intertwining their stories, emotions, and movements into a harmonious blend of color, form, and soul.
